Day 29: Favorite Overall Moment

Kingdom dance from Tangled
I just love this entire celebration montage. The colors, the exuberance, and the storytelling - all conveyed without a word. The mood builds and builds with the music. It brings the audience in to how Rapunzel is experiencing the world outside of the tower, and we also see the attraction building between Rapunzel and Eugene. Simply a beautifully done scene.

Day 20: Funniest Moment

Rapunzel wrestling with her guilt and her excitement after leaving the tower from Tangled. This scene never fails to make me laugh.

Day 15: Favorite Romantic Moment

The lantern scene (“I See the Light”) from Tangled
This scene gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it in theaters. I may have teared up a little too. It is the “pure Disney magic” moment of the film. It is particularly magical when you see it on the big screen in 3D.
The water, lovers on a boat, the lanterns, the song… and the [almost] kiss
Really, it doesn’t get more romantic than this.

Day 11: Favorite Animal Sidekick

Maximus from Tangled
This horse is absolutely hilarious! He steals every scene he is in. No matter how many times I see this movie, I crack up during the scene where he drops Flynn’s boot and wags his tail for Rapunzel. Dog-horse?

Then there’s the foes-to-friends relationship with Eugene. This scene always reminds me of what my brothers used to do when they were kids.

And who can forget his escapades with Pascal in Tangled Ever After?

Day 9: Favorite Couple

Flynn/Eugene and Rapunzel (Can you tell I’m slightly obsessed with Tangled at the moment?)
I just love them. They’re adorable. Part of their appeal is that we actually got to see their relationship progress. And I love that they were willing to sacrifice themselves for the other person. That’s true love there.

Day 8: Saddest Moment
There were numerous scenes in Disney princess movies that made me choke up, but the only one that made me cry real tears was this one from Tangled:

When Eugene told Rapunzel, “You were my new dream,” she replied, “And you were mine.” Notice the past tense. Everything just sounded so final. For a moment, I was almost fooled into thinking that Disney would actually kill the prince character in this film.
The movie up to this point had been vibrant, jubilant, and generally happy. Then in this scene, the colors went dark, and there were a few seconds of silence. These elements made this scene particularly weighty in contrast with the rest of the film.

Day 7: Favorite Castle

The castle from Tangled is arguably my favorite. Its design is completely different from the traditional Disney castles. Its towers and turrets tower over the kingdom but not in an imposing way. Overall, I think it has a warm and inviting ambiance. I also love that the kingdom is surrounded by the ocean. The view from it at the end of the movie (when Rapunzel and Eugene are standing on its balcony) is absolutely spectacular.

Day 5: Favorite Kiss
I couldn’t really decide on this one initially and had to go watch all the kiss scenes again. To be honest, I’m still a little torn, but my answer is …
Eugene & Rapunzel from Tangled

(Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the movie and don’t want it spoiled, stop reading.)
Day 3: Favorite Prince
This one is a no-brainer.

Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert - my cartoon crush if there ever was one. Physically attractive and has a great personality. Sure, he’s a thief, but he really has a good heart. And he made a total turnaround by the end of the movie. I like that he is willing to sacrifice his life for Rapunzel. Not to mention he’s voiced perfectly by one of my favorite actors Zachary Levi.
And one more picture. “Here comes the smoulder.”

In the beginning of this article, the writer wrote, “I don’t know what the boys thought, but this movie was a hit in my house.” I can say, for a fact, that boys like “Tangled” - and these are high school boys I’m talking about.
My classes repeatedly voted for this movie to watch before the holiday break. Given the choices of “Finding Nemo,” “Up,” “The Lion King,” and “Tangled,” my students had some heated arguments over which one they wanted. For me, it was a treat just seeing how much high school kids still enjoy Disney movies, although many of them probably won’t admit it. “Tangled” won out in all my classes except one, and even in that class, it only lost to “The Lion King” by one vote. And yup, it was the boys who pushed for “Tangled.”
